Allen Jones, painter. Born in 1937 at Southampton.
His work in the early 60s was influenced by psychology and by his reading of Nietzsche, Freud and Jung. In 1963 he received the Prix des Jeunes Artistes at the Paris Biennale. In 1964 he moved to New York and travelled throughout the USA. In New York, Hockney drew his attention to the world of mass produced consumer goods imagery. He still works on a three dimensional illusionism with obvious erotic components.
