Soho 1990

Soho, in the heart of London’s West End, is a tangle of workshops, pubs and Chinatown’s shops and restaurants. It has always been a sort of village, full of dodgy dreamers, clubbers and sex workers. By 1990 gentrification and rent rises had begun to destroy much of the exotic ambience, slowed down by the arrival of the gay community and the transformative power of the vibrant “pink pound”.
